Lavalier wireless microphones
Wireless lapel microphones A wireless microphone needs a transmitter to transmit the signal from the microphone, a receiver to receive the signal from the transmitter and a capsule, which is the actual microphone itself. You may have seen on TV, a presenter, weather forecaster or newsreader with a small mic in their lapel (lavalier) or clipped to a tie. This is wired to the belt pack around their waste (the cable hidden under their jacket). This then allows the sound engineer to adjust their microphone volume level from across the studio. Dance and aerobic instructors can use a headset mic with a belt pack transmitter, so that they can give instructions, leaving their hands free for dancing, with he belt-pack tucked away inside a belt.
